Antenna Guidelines 

The Association has rules and restrictions on exterior antenna installation. These rules require (1) advance notification by the homeowners of their intention to install an exterior mounted antenna and (2) that permitted antennas be installed in a place shielded from view. A copy of the MVEHA Antenna Rules can be obtained from the on-site manager or found on the Association’s website. The Antenna Rules stipulate.

  1. Satellite TV use. “Dish” antennas used for reception of FCC protected satellite-TV or satellite-data services are permitted if their diameter or diagonal measurement is no larger than one meter (39.7 inches).
  2. Number of antennas.  Only one antenna per service provider may be installed.
  3. Location. The antenna, mounting, and cabling must be out of view from the street and common area. If it is not possible to obtain adequate reception by a location hidden from view, the antenna must be located in a place shielded from view to the maximum extent possible. Elevated mast, chimney, and ridgeline mounts are not acceptable if adequate reception is available from other locations.
  4. Installation. The mounting and cabling must be installed according to professional standards.
  5. Safety. The antenna must be appropriately grounded and installed at safe locations as mandated by applicable City fire and building codes.

Outdoor “stick” antennas used for standard broadcast TV and/or over-the-air HDTV are not allowed because adequate signal can be obtained from an indoor location in this area.

Any external antenna installation that is not protected by the FCC rules and regulations is prohibited by the Association’s CC&R’s.

The homeowner is responsible for the maintenance and liability of any exterior antenna.
